NDC Offers Rebate On Nomination Forms For Women, Youth, Physically Challenged

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to boosting the participation of women, young people, and persons living with disabilities (PWD) in the 2027 general elections by offering substantial discounts on nomination and expression of interest forms.

In a statement issued on behalf of the party, the National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, said the move was in line with a key promise to ensure that no Nigerian is left out of the democratic process – whether at home or in the diaspora.

“The fact that someone is young and may not be a money bag or is disadvantaged by some physical disabilities should not shut him or her from contributing their quota to nation-building,” the statement read.

The NDC noted that women, in particular, had historically received “the short end of the democracy stick” due to cultural and other barriers, and required affirmative action to give them the necessary push to participate and contest.

“Nigeria would be short-changing itself if it unwittingly shuts out about 50 per cent of its population, as represented by women, from the democratic process,” Enekweizu added.

Under the new policy, all female aspirants on the NDC platform will pay 50 per cent of the advertised costs for both expression of interest and nomination forms.

The same 50 per cent discount applies to aspirants aged between 18 and 35 years. Persons living with disabilities will pay just 25 per cent of the advertised fees.

The statement also clarified that while forms for presidential, governorship, and National Assembly positions can be obtained at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, those for state houses of assembly must be collected at the respective NDC state offices.
