Anxiety Grips Aspirants As NDC Primaries Results Await Official Announcement

Tension is mounting among aspirants of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as the party prepares to release the official results of its nationwide primaries, which were conducted on 28 and 29 May.

The party leadership has moved to quell speculation by warning the public to disregard unauthorised results circulating on social media.

In a press statement issued on Sunday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director Esq., declared that the only authentic results are in the custody of the National Executive Council (NEC), which holds sole authority for any official announcement.

“The general public is hereby urged to disregard the various results circulating on social media as the outcome of the nationwide primaries conducted by the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, on the 28th and 29th of May, 2026,” the statement read.

Mr Director further confirmed that a NEC meeting has been convened on the orders of the party’s National Leader, former Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Seriake Dickson.

All NEC members have been directed to arrive in Abuja for a pre-NEC meeting on Tuesday, 2 June, with the main NEC meeting scheduled for Wednesday, 3 June 2026.

“The general public and stakeholders will be availed of the results of our primaries when we send the list of candidates to fly our party’s flag to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),” the statement added.

The NDC has appealed to party supporters and the wider public to remain calm and await the official announcement from the NEC.

The delay, party insiders say, is to allow for thorough collation and verification of results from across the federation.

With many aspirants camped in Abuja and following developments closely, the coming days are expected to be decisive for the party’s electoral prospects ahead of the general elections.
