In a move signalling a heightened state of preparedness, Nigeria’s Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) is rolling out a substantial security operation across the country ahead of the Easter weekend.
Over 57,000 personnel are being deployed nationwide, a significant mobilisation aimed at ensuring a peaceful and secure holiday for citizens.
The initiative, approved by NSCDC Commandant General Ahmed Audi, will see a visible increase in security presence at key locations – think churches, shopping centres, and popular leisure spots – with a mix of uniformed officers and plain-clothes operatives keeping watch.
It’s not just about visibility, though. The Corps is also emphasising proactive intelligence gathering, with specialised units like the Special Intelligence Squad and Mining Marshals placed on high alert.
Mr. Audi stressed the importance of close collaboration with other security forces and swift responses to any reported concerns.
