APGA Stakeholders Endorse Onunkwo For 2027 Anambra South Senatorial Seat

By Chuks Eke—

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) have unanimously endorsed the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Seahorse Lubricant Industries Limited, Chief Ebuka Onunkwo, to contest the Anambra South Senatorial seat in the forthcoming 2027 elections.

The stakeholders, including the immediate past Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs. Ify Obinabo; the incumbent Chairman of Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Hon. Chimezie Obi; Dr. Ignatius Ihechukwudere Nnubia (Anya Ihembos); Hon. Clement Oguejiofor; Chukwuleta Joseph; and Chuks Kamen Ogbonna, a former aide to the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, maintained that Onunkwo is the popular choice amongst stakeholders across the Senatorial District, regardless of political affiliation.

The endorsement was made during Onunkwo’s declaration of his intention to contest the seat. Stakeholders insisted that, as a loyal party member who has consistently helped people achieve economic and educational stability through his scholarship, apprenticeship, and mentorship schemes, they would not stand by and allow another candidate to deny him this opportunity to serve in the Senate and further demonstrate his philanthropic work. They assured him of their full support in his campaign to reach the Red Chambers.

Addressing APGA ward and local government members during his official declaration at the Ekwusigo Local Government Headquarters, Ozubulu, at the weekend, Onunkwo assured the people of the district, the state, and Nigerians that, if elected to represent them in the Senate in Abuja, he would dedicate himself to creating high-quality legislation that benefits both his Senatorial District and the nation as a whole, irrespective of tribe, ethnicity, political leaning, or religious belief.

He also pledged quality and effective representation, and further contributions to state and national development, adding that his work would build upon the legacy of the late Senator Ubah and reshape the political landscape of the Anambra South Senatorial District.

“I am not going to the Senate to simply hold a position, or to enrich myself, or to play political games. I am going to bring the benefits of democracy home,” he stated, adding, “I am also going to complement the efforts of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo in Anambra State.”

“My priorities will be education, quality healthcare, and empowerment programmes for youth and women. I want to fulfil the vow I solemnly made to God during difficult times: if He makes me prosperous, I will use that wealth to improve the lives of His creation. I come from humble beginnings. I have been helping those in need for the past 20 years.”

“I am not seeking the Senate seat to simply occupy it, but to work for the good of my people. I am going to the Senate to make a difference. I assure my people they will not regret supporting my ambition. I appeal to APGA primary election delegates from Anambra South Senatorial District to consider my candidacy.”

Onunkwo also appealed to other APGA supporters in the district – encompassing Aguata, Ihiala, Ekwusigo, Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Orumba North, and Orumba South – to begin intensive ward-to-ward campaigning to ensure the party wins the general election on January 16th, 2027.
