Sundiata Post Media Ltd today announced the launch of the Sundiata Post Intelligence Unit (SPIU), marking a significant shift from traditional news reporting towards in-depth security analysis.
The move formalises the operationalisation of ‘The Insecurity Triad’ framework, a system developed by Dr. Max Amuchie, CEO of Sundiata Post, understands the complex security landscape in Nigeria and the Lake Chad Basin.
The SPIU will focus on providing actionable intelligence regarding the interconnected issues of kidnapping, banditry, and terrorism – areas which Dr. Amuchie argues have previously been treated as isolated problems.
The framework has already gained traction amongst policy experts and security analysts as a valuable tool for deciphering Nigeria’s security challenges.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. Amuchie described the SPIU as a “moral and intellectual contract” with the nation, stating, “For too long, our response to insecurity has been reactive and fragmented.
The Insecurity Triad framework proves these issues are a unified ecosystem. We are moving beyond what is happening in the headlines to why and how this violence is structured.”
The SPIU’s mandate includes:

Pattern Analysis: Applying the Insecurity Triad to understand the relationships between actors and the factors driving insecurity.
Actionable Intelligence: Producing reports – including ‘Triad Briefings’ and ‘Early Warning Alerts’ – offering analysis beyond simple reporting.
Risk Assessment: Providing forward-looking assessments of potential developments.
Public Understanding: Bridging the gap between complex security issues and public awareness.
Accountability: Highlighting systemic failures contributing to insecurity.
New Security Review to Launch
The Unit’s flagship product, the SPIU Security Review, a high-impact intelligence brief, will debut on Friday, 24th April 2026, offering a detailed analysis of the week’s security indicators.
Sundiata Post is actively seeking partnerships with national and international agencies, research organisations, and technology firms to bolster the SPIU’s data capabilities, particularly in areas like geospatial data and predictive analytics.
Dr. Amuchie stressed that the SPIU is not intended to replace state intelligence agencies, but rather to “innovate within the media space,” creating a “public intelligence system that is transparent, disciplined, and accountable.” He added, “Insecurity thrives in confusion.
