The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Sokoto State Chapter has announced the successful completion of its State Congress, held today, Monday 4th May 2026, at the party’s State Secretariat in Sokoto.
The event, which saw the election of a new State Executive Committee, was lauded by party officials as a demonstration of internal strength and a commitment to democratic process.
According to a statement released by the NDC Sokoto State Chapter, the Congress proceeded smoothly and in full accordance with the party’s constitution and established guidelines.
Delegates representing all 23 Local Government Areas within Sokoto State participated actively, a turnout described as indicative of “strong member confidence and unity of purpose” within the party.
Observers noted the orderly and transparent nature of the proceedings. Party sources confirmed that the election process was deemed credible by attendees, with stakeholders and delegates alike exhibiting a commendable level of discipline and maturity throughout the day.
Crucially, the Congress was completed without incident, with no reports of disruption or unrest.
Following the conclusion of the voting, the newly elected State Executive Committee members were sworn in and inaugurated at the Secretariat, formally commencing their term of office.
While the statement did not detail the specific individuals elected, it emphasised the legitimacy of the process through which they were chosen.
The NDC Sokoto State Chapter has reiterated its commitment to serving the electorate of Sokoto State, outlining a continued focus on policies designed to improve welfare, bolster economic opportunities, and drive social development.
In a call for party unity, officials urged all members to offer their support to the new leadership, stressing the importance of maintaining law and order and upholding the peaceful spirit demonstrated during the Congress.
