The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced an extension of the deadline for the collection of Expression of Interest Forms for a range of elective positions.
In a press statement signed by the party’s National Secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu Esq., the deadline – originally set to close at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, 17th May 2026 – has been moved to midnight on Sunday, 24th May 2026.
The extension applies to candidates seeking nomination for State Houses of Assembly, the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the Governorship positions.
However, the party confirmed that the collection of Expression of Interest Forms for the Office of the President is now closed.
Following the extended collection period, screening of aspirants who have purchased and completed the forms will begin on Tuesday, 19th May 2026 and run until 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 26th May 2026.
The collection and return of Nomination Forms for all cleared aspirants will take place from Wednesday, 20th May 2026 to Tuesday, 26th May 2026.
The NDC stressed that no further extensions will be granted beyond these closing dates and urged all aspirants to comply strictly with the timelines.
Aspirants are required to appear for screening and pre-qualification interviews at designated venues across the country, bringing educational certificates, birth certificate or declaration of age, four recent passport photographs, a copy of a voter’s identification card, an NDC membership card and a copy of their Curriculum Vitae.
All documents must be submitted in six copies.
The party said screening would be based on criteria including the wishes of the electorate, local peculiarities, the capacity and competence of aspirants, and character.
The Screening Committee has also been instructed to take note of the party’s affirmative action policy for women, youths, and persons living with disabilities.
Aspirants are encouraged to pursue consensus-building, as only cleared candidates will be eligible to purchase Nomination Forms.
