Rotary Club Targets Community Development With Five-In-One Outreach In Abuja

The Rotary Club of Abuja Gudu is set to deliver a comprehensive five-in-one community impact project aimed at improving access to education, promoting peace, strengthening public health, encouraging hygiene, and empowering residents with income-generating skills.

The initiative, scheduled for Saturday, 10 October 2026, at LEA Primary School, Angwa Fulani Village (behind NPI Estate, Gaduwa, Abuja), brings together five core areas of focus of Rotary International into a single community outreach.

The project features back-to-school support for pupils, a spelling bee competition with prizes, a presentation on crisis prevention, free health checks, the installation of a handwashing station, and vocational bead-making skills acquisition.

Reflecting a community-based approach to development, the initiative combines immediate assistance with practical interventions designed to promote long-term well-being and self-reliance. Under its literacy and basic education component, the club will provide school supplies and organise a spelling bee to encourage learning, build pupils’ confidence, and promote academic growth.

The peacebuilding component will feature a talk on crisis prevention, emphasising the importance of resolving conflicts and promoting peaceful coexistence. The health intervention will provide free health screenings, while the new handwashing station will foster better hygiene habits and raise awareness regarding the prevention of hygiene-related diseases. The economic empowerment segment will focus on bead-making, equipping participants with practical crafts to support self-employment and generate supplementary income.

The Rotary Club of Abuja Gudu has invited fellow Rotarians and members of the public to participate in the initiative, which begins at 9:00 AM. The project aligns with Rotary International’s broader commitment to humanitarian service across its seven areas of focus: promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene, saving mothers and children, supporting education, growing local economies, and protecting the environment.
