Independence Anniversary: NSCDC Deploys Personnel Nationwide To Guard Critical Infrastructure

ABUJA — The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has ordered a nationwide security deployment to safeguard critical national assets and infrastructure ahead of Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary celebrations.

The Commandant General of the NSCDC, Professor Ahmed Audi, confirmed that adequate operational personnel and resources have been deployed across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to ensure peaceful celebrations.

In a statement released on Wednesday by the Corps’ National Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commandant Babawale Afolabi, the NSCDC noted that special operational focus would be directed towards strategic installations, public facilities, and locations vulnerable to vandalism or sabotage.

“The NSCDC remains fully prepared to discharge its statutory responsibilities and contribute effectively to the maintenance of peace and national security,” Audi stated.

He added that the Corps would maintain close synergy with sister security agencies and local communities to enhance intelligence gathering and enable rapid responses to potential security threats.

Audi called on citizens to remain law-abiding and to report suspicious activities to security authorities, emphasising that public cooperation remains vital to maintaining national security during the anniversary period.
